Abstract
Background. It is impossible to comprehend power without analyzing its philosophical problems. The desire for dominance and power has a basic anthropological character. The paradox of this phenome-non was comprehensively characterized by Friedrich Nietzsche. The Nietzschean idea of the "will to power" undoubtedly had an impact on political practice in the 19th and 20th centuries. However, Nietzsche's idea goes far beyond power relations in public life. The philosopher of-fers a detailed and original understanding of the human problem. The purpose of this work is to show the significance of the concept of the will to power in the Nietzschean doctrine of man, to reveal the connection of this concept with his doctrine of values and morality. Materials and methods. The research is based on an analysis of the works of F. Nietzsche, as well as articles by modern authors who turned to the study of his legacy. Socio-philosophical and general scientific principles of cognition have been applied in the work. The methodology of this research includes the method of historical reconstruction, as well as a specific historical method. Results. The article analyzes the position of the will to power as a central category in Nietzsche's philosophy. The phenomenon of lust for power is associated with the deep inner world of man. New interpretations of the Nietzschean idea of the "superhuman age" are highlighted and their prob-lematic nature is revealed. Conclusions. The idea of the will to power appears in philosophy as the most important attribute of human nature. Nietzsche uses it as a universal explanatory principle not only to characterize an individual, but also society, its culture and morality. To overcome the human crisis, it is necessary to reassess all values based on the primacy of the will to power as a source of life.
